This afternoon I found a very tiny egg in the nest box, the color, size and shape is far different than my layers and I think this must be a wild bird egg.

No way did a wild bird get into the coop to lay the egg but there it was sitting with a couple of regular chicken eggs.

I am wondering if possibly they found a wild egg in the run and one of them decided to carry it into the nestbox? I can't think of how else this could have happened.

Has anyone heard of this or had it happen?

I find a wild bird getting into the coop easier to believe than a chicken carrying it. Could just be an oddball egg too.

Could it be a fairy egg? Those are like mini eggs that the girls lay from time to time

Hmmm...never heard of a fairy egg. Maybe! I have two brown egg layers (standard sized) and this egg is a different shade of very light brown.
