Tip of beak broken off

I have a young rooster about 6.5 months old. I noticed a couple of days ago that the top of his beak has been broken off a little bit. Should I try to shorten his lower beak to match? If so, what would be the best way to do this?

I'm not to sure about wether you should shorten his bottom beak. If you decide that you need to I would recommend a pair of nail clippers. I have a cross beak and they work well for trimming hers

I'd just leave the beak alone. If not too much is gone, it will grow back and become normal again.

Thanks. I think I will leave it alone. It's not severe, thankfully.

Yes, if he is getting a good diet and the break is minor (and he still eats well), leave it be. In a month or so you'll never be able to tell it happened.

If it's more severe, and hinders eating, there are other steps that can be taken, but in general it is never advisable to alter the lower mandible, as it is (also) full of a blood supply and nervous tissues.

Nambroth, Thanks for your response. He has difficulty picking up some things, but is doing okay with food, I think. I hope it will grow back.
