Tips for hatching silkies.

So exciting! I'm scouting local adds to see if I can pop a few more in!! I really want to start breeding but will have to wait and see... I have to keep them at my mums as I live in a rented house so it's down to her and her neighbours whether we can keep any roos.

I have a suspicion that my partridge is a roo :-( if it is I'm praying its quiet!!! Xxx

I thought as much :-)

My two black chicks have greyish chests and vents... Are they splashes or will they eventually become black? Xxx
they could still end up being black or even maybe blue -- the blue chicks I've raised usually were dark with a little lighter "fluff" around their bellies and vents.. but that is true with blacks too (lighter belly and vents) Splash chicks are hard because they change a lot as they mature.. I've had chicks that looked blue at hatch and ended up Splash when they started feathering out more
