Tips for hatching silkies.

Ooh jealous. I've got the eco 20 on loan but toying with the idea of hatching in my mini eco. I found out you can candle eggs through the incy wall with the lights off!! Xxx

Are they not the bantam versions? Mine are minis :-) xxx

I've heard they can but I'm on my first hatch due Friday so I've got no idea!! Xxx

Don't know when to lock down... Candled them today (day 16). Found one dead :-( first loss, really sad. But the other three are pretty big... Like they're ready to go! :-S

Pretty sure. I have a high intensity candler and could see its feathers and feet etc. no movement (did see VERY slight movement in the blood vessels but very infrequent and slow). I candled three times in the space of 4 hours and the embryo looked the same each time- no difference. Blood vessels are thinner than the other eggs but still there. Ill attach a pic xxx

any luck with the other eggs? I usually put my bantam eggs on lockdown a day earlier than my LF breeds or whenever I notice the first internal pip -- if I can hear a chick chirping at me it's lockdown time!

I have my last batch of silkies due to hatch in 5 days, I'm excited

fingers crossed everyone makes it out!
