Tips for Showing?

Hi everyone! I am not new to chicken owning, but I'm really interested in showing, which i am most definitely new to! I have read up about the APA and all of those good things, but my question to you more experienced handlers is:

What information/tips/advice do you wish you knew when you first began showing your chickens?

look up the standards online for your partictular breed. Go to a local fair and ask questions to the exhibitors. Many youth would be glad to answer and give tips. We are pretty friendly!!

Go to several shows. Decide what birds you want to concentrate on. See who is winning and get foundation stock from them. See if they would be willing to mentor you. Initial cost may be high, but it costs just as much to feed inferior birds as it does to feed quality stock.
