tips needed for slipping chicks under a broody - SUCCESS

Here's an update of my broody with a few of her now 2 month old chicks. They've all learned to roost, and definitely still want their mama. She's started back to laying, but still puts up with them.

It's been a week and a half since i got my babies from MPC, and then slipped them under Esther. We waited till dark, and slipped them under after taking her eggs. Went fantastic... they are a happy family now...all 8 chicks, mom and Aunt Mercedes are doing fantastic...even if the babies get away with stuff lol

I shad to take some eggs that turned out to be cracked and leaking away from my broody black cochin momma and gave her six newly hatched buff orpington babys. all the while she was doing her fussy-mom clucking and tucking them under her bod/wings. I went back out later to make sure all was ok and there they all were - onlysome little butts or tops of beaks to be seen - she is so happy!! She's been a surrogate mom before and always does a great job.
