Tips on a great brooder for me!?

Hello guys I have figure out that the brooder I have , while it is nice and good for the time being soon will not be big enough for 14 chicks . So does anyone have any recommendations on a good size for 15 chicks? I am going to buy the lumber this weekend and make me a bigger one pretty much a rectangle box? Any rev commendations on dimensions?

I just use large indoor rabbit cages for my brooders. 15 fit in there quite nicely.

I just started building my bigger brooder tonight. I posted a couple pics. I ordered 15 chicks too. They're arriving this week. We will start them in a large aquarium in our home for the first couple weeks then move them to the one I'm building them in our basement. Good luck!

I use a wire shelving unit like this but just forming a big wall. i gave up on the connectors and used zipties to hold them together. I think I used 3x3 or 3x4 which was big enough for 7 ducks or 3 geese until they were feathered. Nice thing is that it is easily expandable as they grow. This year I have made these into a 2 panel high wall around a pallet covered in hardware cloth.

This is the brooder I built tonight it's made completely out of 2x12's and has a plywood bottom. It's dimensions are 2ft wide by 4ft long. 12 inches tall any thoughts on if the height is good enough

You can make a frame with metal fencing on it (like a screen) to cover the top to keep them in - they will be able to jump out very very soon.

Make it with metal wire fencing so that it won't catch on fire with the heat lamp over it.

here is one to give you an idea- keep that light away from the frame though as it is wood and is flammable

Make sure that your heat lamp is NOT too close to the bedding. Since you are only 12 inches high there that is too close, and I'd make sure to check temps at chick level...make sure it isn't too hot (so bedding isn't too hot).
