Tips on harvesting roosters needed to speed up process.

Fingers are made from two 36" black rubber bungie cords cut , the ones with metal hook that truckers use to secure tarps. I cut down the sides a bit leaving a 1/2" tab at the end so that when you insert them into the cap they retain the "finger". Point the tips slightly and drill your holes smaller than the width of the strips. Get the tip in and pull through with pliers. Then I ran them against sandpaper to take off the shiny spots. They grips feathers very well.

Not my design, but I copied it from someone else here.

you are correct, nan. i was thinking of the hair feathers.

i wasn't aware the fella had a kit to do it. we'll probably just end up getting the plans and gathering our own materials, but it is something to think about. although, if the kit is fairly expensive, we might not think hard about it

we've only got 20 meat birds this year, and probably 8 or so roosters that will get culled when larger, but next year we are hoping to make a larger purchase of FR's (we're really digging them)
