Tired of it!!!

Ditto MinxFox. I have 2 hens that came to me at a year old. They had never been socialized with people, but my other birds were very comfortable with me in their aviaries. It took over a year for these 2 new hens to not panic when I'm in with the flock. The more time you can spend sitting with them, the more easily they will accept you. I hand-feed all the peas with special treats, like the white bread MinxFox uses. Because the new hens didn't come up to be hand-fed, they didn't get much bread. Now they gather around just like the others and jockey for position to get that bread. It takes patience. Remember that these are wild creatures and it will take time for them to trust you. But it's worth it!

So, Should I get a dish, And go into the pen, Put it the far corner and put bread in it, then, keep doing than, and slowly make it come closer and closer to me, Than no dish at all, than with some in my hand? I will add Worms and that stuff into the mix as well.

Start with a couple of things peas really like, like white bread and unsalted peanuts. Sit in a corner and toss a couple pieces far away from you. Watch what happens. (Don't throw over their heads 'cause it will spook them.) See how close they will come to get that bread. I really think that in a week or so they will be coming really close. After a while, you can just toss it about a foot from you, then you can set it down in front of you. Don't make any sudden movements while they're eating. You're gonna have fun, and so will they.
