My humidity went above 55%, quit warm outside today and my AC didn't come on. So, I decide to lift up the lid to bring it down. I figured that while I had the lid up I would candle a few eggs D4, I saw the spider in both of cream legbars that I candled, but they moved before I could take pic is this normal

I now that must seem like a silly question, but last hatch I didn't see anything and no movement I thought it was because of the dark shell. So, I am excited to see this and can't wait until D7 when I plan to candle the rest and set another 6 that Iam getting Thrusday or Friday. Thank you

I so wanted to better my odds of something hatching that I have 10 shipped and 12 from my girls already in the NR360, then 2 more in the mini7 and 6 more coming I will be in overflow

I have a frizzle older hen that is getting really aggressive with my other hens. I recently gave away my roosters, I wonder if is a pecking order thing, or is she going to go broody. The roosters were young and none of the hens got fertile from them. I unplugged the winter light today. Hoping that will stop the aggression.

Still no action on my lone pip. It’s still just barely cracked. I almost wouldn’t even call it a pip yet. Hoping for a little progress before I go to bed tonight so I don’t worry.

I have a magicfly/Janoel 12, too, and it is a bit tricky to get the humidity level to stay steady. I took a cap from an empty spice container (the red ones, McCormick?) and put it underneath the top tray, and poured tiny amounts of water directly into it. I got a four pack of digital thermometer/hygrometers...they are cheap and so I don't think they can be calibrated, and certainly not in ice/boiling water. But I watched them for a couple days on my counter and my thermostat and they all read the same temperature that my thermostat read so I figured...good enough! I've kept the humidity around 30% throughout incubation and got 13% average weightloss by Day 16, so at least the ones I received seem to be fairly accurate.

For lockdown (tomorrow) I plan to put a damp paper towel in to help keep the humidity higher during the hatch.

Yes I think I got the same 4 pack as you I think they work well! Ok I’m going to try that because it just dries up too fast when I just pour water in. I was also thinking of a sponge or paper towel for lockdown. Let me know how it goes!!

Ok, I don't have either of those but I do know that with the style incubator that HB life, you want to be very careful about adding too much water. It's a common complaint, dryer is better. The 24 egg Magicfly can take a little more but I haven't spoken to as many people that have used them so I don't want to give you bad advice. I would stay on the lower side of humidity and if you're watching the hatch you will be able to see if the membrane in the little pip hole start to get a little brown you can increase it slightly and go from there. The issues that come up from a dry hatch are far easier to fix than a hatch that is too wet.

When you say low do you mean about 30 or even lower more like 20?

Blue bird You could even wake in the morning with no progress... grr but it is much grosser to help! just know if it pips it can breathe, and remember, the can be shipped across country for 3 days with out needing food or water, so sitting in an egg with a pip is not a big deal.
