|My gosh, that is in the city?? That is just so unreal. I mean I live in the middle of the country and see these things on t.v. but somehow it is more than the mind can comprehend. I am so sorry for all those people who have lost everything, I cannot imagine being in that position and hope they will be ok.

Yeah that pic is amazing, its on a mountain/hill behind the city.

Most folks are now back home, if they have a home to go to and cleaning up - the clean up is tough, you pretty much have to wipe all the ash and soot away, you can't vacuum or anything like that - well with a hepa filter its ok, but its a huge mess....
A friend sent pic's of her swimmning pool - its just a black MESS.

I'm glad to hear they are back home and everything is OK. I know what you mean about the clean up. It's just a MESS. They'll be finding soot in their house for years. After the 03 fires, I cleaned the house as well as I could and I still found soot settling.
Our pool is literally BLACK right now. DH dumped two gallons of chlorine in it and he put chlorine tabs in the filter and it's slowly but surely sort of turning back to blue.

I think it it was my pool I might just have drained it.....

I think people are feeling a little more normal now, it was a solid week of fires...

The BAD news is the winds are back later this week.

I was reading a story on the news, really made my heart happy in a sad kinda way - there are firefighters who are now walking the evacuated area's - feeding the animals, sometimes giving the animals their own food. Its just so sad and yet makes my heart feel like bursting - that there are all those men out there, who are so loving and caring that they walk around the area feeding and loving the animals who are so scared!!!

The owners in those area's are not allowed back in yet. I don't know how you would thank a person for doing that... there was a pic of a tabby cat, sitting amongst the burned out ruins of a home, and then a firefighter sharing his sandwich with the cat..............gosh so sad and yet so hopeful!

Wildsky, could you post that pic of the fireman feeding the cat his sandwich?

Poor things! I hope they find those people that did it....last time it was a young boy!!!!

Well, CarrieBrown, welcome back, but I didn't know you were gone cuz I've been away myself.
Though for completely different reasons...traveling and work.

Just caught up on my reading here, and whoa....I think I pieced enough together about what may have happened to learn that I was duped big time!

If it is what I am thinking of, I donated a lot. When I never heard much after the fact I began to have doubts, but couldn't believe such a thing would be true of anyone.
What a dope I was.

Those of you in the know, I would be interested in seeing the email that went out.

I don't know specifically what thread was closed, and I do remember reading somewhere about another site being started by this person, but, thank goodness, I never went there.

Still feel dumb for having been taken.

Life lesson is right.
Oh well, I always believe that what goes around comes around.

Anyway, whatever happened, glad it sounds like it was resolved.

I have been through this entire thread and it's pretty obvious that some folks have some hurt feelings over a situation that apparently had to do with extending kindnesses and then maybe feeling taken advantage of. If that is the case, and I really don't want to know, I just wanted to extend my well wishes to the ones that were kind enough to offer whatever help they did to a stranger -- what the person did with your kindness/offer/help... really doens't even matter, it's the giving part that will makes up your karma/personality/soul....whatever part of yourselves you all gave to the person in question, was a good thing. No one should be sorry, ever, for helping someone. Haven't you ever given money to the panhandler on the corner? He may very well buy a 1/5th with the money but what you really gave him was compassion and empathy. If he passes your "gift" on to someone else, you are doubly rewarded, nothing will be taken away from you regardless of what he does with your kindesses. Guess in all this mumbo-jumbo I'm saying that you all sound like very caring, compassionate people that shared yourself with someone that hurt you --let it go, forgive yourselves and the person and keep on helping folks -- regardless of what they do with your help....sorry to get on a soapbox....
