I posted something about my silkie chick dieing a few weeks ago. She was lethargic and laying down. Everyone said to cull her. Well now she is the healthiest one!!!!! So if you ever have a sick or dieing chick, give it a few days and dont be so quick to end its life unless it is in complete pain. I dont think the animal should suffer but still give it a chance at life!!!!!!! Im sure glad I didnt kill my lil silkie!

Im glad your chick recovered!!

Thanks!!! I believe in culling at the last minute. I know when my animals are clearly in pain! I will post a pic of the little chick soon!

Congratulations! I wait till the last minute. I hate to have to cull anything. However, if it's truly necessary it will be done.

Definitely agreed. It is true, though, that chicks in that state normally die quickly, but I don't think they should be culled unless clearly in pain. I'm so glad for your silkie!

Some things you should cull asap for, such as respiratory problems, since those birds that recover remain carriers.

Other things, like what you described, didnt sound so bad, like the bird was in pain.
