Totally agree. I had one and the roost was (no joke) about a foot off the ground. What adult chicken would roost on that?? The nesting box is higher then that thing. The rod broke almost instantly and the luxurious “run” was about 3 feet. Horrible, the nesting box was worst. With a thin little rod jammed in the corner and my adult chickens had to hunch over because they couldn’t stand up.

Mine would spend their evenings right before bed searching for a higher place to roost. I left the door to the coop open all day until they went to bed and they kept trying to roost on the door haha.

It says “large chicken coop“ not even my bantams could stand up tall in the majority of this and they’re about a foot tall. The roost inside the nesting box? An inch off the ground. The bottom to the nesting box slides so i notice it keeps sliding back and fourth, causing some chickens to fall in too. Do NOT get this. It’s cute, but for $200? Don’t even get me started on the split wood and splinters. No thanks!

I understand the measurements are on the box, but even you know that six chickens couldn’t fit in there full time, you have yours all split up.

I think the point we’re trying to make is it’s just hard for new chicken owners to know that those measurements aren’t enough room for up to 6 full grown chickens. It’s hard when they’re so tiny to know that they’ll get really big and not fit in there anymore.

I remember crying because i was so upset that this was advertised for that many chickens and once our 4 started to grow they just didn’t have enough room in there. The frustration was very real and I just would hate for any new chicken keepers to make the same mistake I did.

It's too bad that really we're never going to stop newbies from making this mistake. Whenever the farm store or hatchery sells their own version of a premade tiny little coop... Most beginners don't know any better. They will think because it's sold at the farm store that is the right thing to get. Kind of like how chicken wire is sold and people assume its what youre supposed to het to keep rhe chickens dafe from.predators. It's really only good for keeping chickens in.

Actually one can go to any home improvement store by a shed maybe 100 more than the piece of bad coop Add a window two vents.

I use them for growouts, retired birds and small breeding groups. But when I'm using then for growouts, they get to free range. The small groups and retired ones only have 2-5 birds in them depending on their size. I certainly wouldn't try to fit 10 in my one that claimed to be built for 10 though

I guess I am expecting too much out of educated people. I bought mine knowing what I was getting and the metal construction was a super plus. I saw it at the store. I read all of the reviews. I'm not an impulse buyer.

That really makes all the difference. It's sad, but I really don't think the majority of people that are first dipping their toes into chicken keeping do as much research as they need to do.

Yes, there is so very much difference between a new-hatched chick at the store and an adult chicken.

I think a lot of people buy chickens on impulse.

Not good for any live animal, but especially for one that will be kept confined.
