I had a friend who had an amazingly productive Fuerte avocado tree when we were in California, and he'd give me buckets of the fruits. I could eat 4 or 5 at a sitting with just a spritz of Louisiana Red Rooster hot sauce on each creamy spoonful. Now that I'm very happily resettled in Texas, I have to buy them at the grocery like the huddled masses and it sucks. Tiny miserable avos, mostly skin and pit, for a buck each?!?
Luckily, the local Tex Mex place makes an awesome queso, so on to the next obsession!
