To clip or not to clip wings

I clipped my leghorn and it didn't seem to help. She was still able to get over the fence. She wasn't too graceful but she did it just the same. Didn't work for me.
 
Yes, you can clip wings at that age if you know what you are doing - it is no different than a hair cut to the bird (well, perhaps they get all mad they can't fly anymore.)

The only time a feather bleeds is when it is either ripped out or if you cut a developing feather which looks like a porcupine quill not like a feather yet. They are even commonly called "blood feathers" at this stage. Once the feathers look like regular feathers, you can cut them. The danger is that you will accidentally cut growing feathers so you just have to watch it.

How about some netting to keep them in.
