Hey so i took a plunge and ordered few chickens, they are coming end of March. Now I'm in a process of looking in to a coop. I was thinking about building one next to the garden behind pool my concern is how close is to close? It would be about 15 feet from the pool, there is a row of evergreens growing between but they are only 5 feet tall at the moment. Would that be to close?

I don't understand the question. Are you concerned they could get in the pool area/accidentally drown?

No, the pool is fenced in and the chicken will have they own tensed run. More concerned about noise and smell from chickens for the people swimming and noise people make for the chickens

I see. A properly maintained coop/run should have little to no smell. Noses are different though. Noise, yeah you'll hear them, and they you.

the trees should give you a nice break between your outdoor living space and the chickens.

that being said, chickens DO smell no matter how well maintained the coop and run are.

how bearable that smell is will be completely up to you.

The chickens will adapt to the noise. My concern would be people aggravating the chickens. I'd put up a privacy fence to keep people from going to the coop and possibly allowing them out or simply trying to scare them. As for the smell of the coop, you will need to keep it clean.
