To intervene or not to intervene- that is the question

I would do what comes "naturally" to me, which would be to immediately eliminate the threat to my livestock, with extreme prejudice.
If you think that's contrary to nature's way, next time you see a mother bear, go ahead and try to pet one of her adorable little cubs, and let me know how that works out for you.

Hi Dogdollar:

Ha! I understand what you are saying and of course I would protect what is mine as would most I suspect. I don't disagree with your example.

What I'm trying to say is to AVOID the confrontation as a first measure.

I'm not looking to snuff out a threat, I'm trying to mitigate the situation by removing the opportunity.

It is not always full proof or possible. However, if I can use my skills as a problem solving entity, then I'll do that first.

Building a strong and durable chicken run is a bit different than someone coming after my "cubs" as I'm strolling through the forest, wouldn't you agree?
