It's negative 3° outside, with a wind chill of negative 21 We're not supposed to get over 0° all day. Right now I'm a little jealous of the eggs, snug and warm in their incubator!

Candled the eggs this morning. They're a little more porous than I'd prefer. And #9 was clearly cracked, so that one won't be going in the incubator. @HonkABC is it alright if I change Sungold to egg #10 instead?

Today's the day we candle for the first time! I can't wait (but have to) The 15yo has practice until 12:30, so we have to wait until then (he'll never forgive us if we candle without him)

But We are right on track with 3% weight loss on Day 5! Didn't see much when candling, I have a feeling fertility is not going to be good with this clutch

But #2, Apollo and

#5, Anne are definitely alive and well!

It's early in the season too, fertility may increase over the next few weeks.

Candled again tonight. Only one egg, #7 Arielle was completely clear. I'm not sure what's going on with the rest of them. Most I'm not convinced are developing, although I'm adding egg #10, Sungold, to Apollo and Anne on the looking good list. We'll candle again on Thursday and see if any of the questionable eggs look more definitive one way or the other.
