To Molt or Not to Molt? That is the question? PICTURES sick chicken

All chickens don't moult at the same time. They seem to have their own internal clock. Some do in summer, others in fall and I have a few who like to drop all their feathers in the dead of winter (talk about knitting sweaters

). How long as she been naked like this? I think I heard something about frizzled birds can have a genetic feather defect that leaves them very bald looking like this. Hopefully a frizzle breeder will check in.

i did forget to mention that she went "broody" about a week ago.

she has been all curled up in the shavings on the floor about a week now. (she is a floor layer)

so........maybe that will save her energy and help her get those feathers back! I will get her on some nutrients and more proteins.

it is strange, out of all my birds she was my best layer, like a lil trooper everyday, a pretty big egg for her size. maybe her poor lil body just needs a rest.

thanks for all your advice, will keep you posted

ps she has been "bald" for about two months, (gradually) thank God I have a tarp over the run, cause she would be sun burned!
