Let them choose. Different birds will respond differently, just like people would, each to satisfy their own unique perceived needs. Watch carefully and you'll see what is going down well and what is not wanted, adjust quantities/varieties accordingly.

Try to provide a diverse range of local seasonal foods - they are likely to be better quality than something that may have been picked unripe and stored in cold storage for a year or whatever.
