To my suprise...

I had some critter(s) eating my feed in the barn so I set one of those live traps. Mostly I caught racsoons and 'possums and relocated most, but not all of them, at least 10 miles away. But, one time, I had caught a skunk. I sure didn't want him spraying in the barn. I got one of my wife's old sheets and held it in front of me till I got close to the cage and then put the sheet over the cage. Then I tied a rope to the cage and pulled the cage out of the barn and into the yard. My main goal was not to get sprayed and didn't know how to do that and open the cage at the same time. So, I got about 20 yards away and dispatched him with my rifle. He didn't spray even when I shot him withy my rifle.

FYI: Had a friend who's dog got sprayed by a skunk and the vet said to bathe it in a feminine douche solution. It took the smell right out.
