To put a roof over the nesting boxes or not?

I have 5 chicken an one rooster.
They seem to use only two nest boxes.
I'm building a bigger and insulated coop.
I have built three nests that will be out in the open compared to what they are used to.
Should I put a roof over the nests , or will this promote roosting on it?
