Getting a rooster has been somewhat harder than one would think.

My parents live a good 3.5 hrs away, so if I got one locally, I'd have to figure a way to keep him till either they or I could make the trip. It would involve having to smuggle him past my nosy neighbors & hide him from my dogs. Not really ideal.

First, my mom was set to adopt a friend's spare, but while they were talking on the phone, I guess he crossed her husband one too many times & ended up dinner first.

Tried to set her up with a nice RIR, but he was too plain.
Yesterday I talked to a guy about a little cuckoo maran cockerel, but then I saw gritsar's post and said hmmm...

Then in the mean time, she saw an online ad I'd forwarded to her and decided she's found her perfect rooster. Woke me up this morning to tell me, lol. So I spent half the day driving all over N.TX, first to go collect him (an hour from me in the wrong direction from her house!) and then to bring him partway to meet up with her.
