I have 15 ducks that I bought that were supposed to be hatchery sexed as female. Their almost 5 weeks old now and 7 are still making the baby noise while the rest are making some strange noises that I am taking to be starter quacks. The broker I used messed up my order so I figure I probably got some males too. I would vent sex but I am no good at it. My question is, next weekend there is a chicken swap nearby and I am seriously considering taking the males to the chicken swap because I don't intend to breed any of them, I only intend to breed my runners. The rest are purely for eggs and to gain experience with ducks. I have the ducks that aren't quacking marked and will check them again before I sell them, but am wondering if I should wait longer or not. There are 2 white hybrids, 2 cayugas, 1 black swedish, 1 pekin and 1 golden hybrid (or mallard unsure, like I said my order was messed up) marked.

I know I probably am jumping the gun but I am due with a baby girl some time between May 21 and June 2, and want to have everything settled before she is born and I have less time to go to chicken swaps and so on.

I would wait a while longer. Some ducklings quack earlier than others... the whole late bloomer thing.

If you do happen to have some males, you have quite a while before you have to worry about the entire breeding things as they don't breed until later. On the other hand it can be harder to sell of males than it is to sell off females. In the end it's up to you. If you don't mind if you accidentally sell off females, then take care of it now.
