To Show or Not to Show

I’m getting more serious about my little flock of Silkies and am wondering about showing our main hen. She is very sweet all around and seems to me to be show quality but I’ve never showed chickens before. Any input? She has never had a bath so the fluff is not represented well in this photo… shown with her chick. She has the bright blue lobes, 5 toes and dark skin.

She's a very cute girl. One thing I will warn is that the risk of disease is not completely gone, even at NPIP shows. I know at least one person who has lost their flock because they brought home nasties by accident

Thanks for the input I do have bird flu in mind… our local fair didn’t even allow chickens this year Hopefully next year!

There is also mereks and MG. Being Npip doesn’t guarantee that birds are clean of those

She seems alright. Not show quality but not bad either. Overall she could use more neck, cushion, and depth, but it is a very fun experience to show so it would be worth it. She’s surprisingly clean.
