To those who regularly use homemade incubators

I'm on my second hatch with my homemade incubator.. I did pretty good the first round not counting clears... had 26 out of 34 hatch. I have the second batch in right now today is day 9.. candled a few last night and they are looking good..

I highly recommend going with an actual thermostat instead of a dimmer or anything that you have to adjust manually.. Unless everything in the room where the incubator stays perfectly stable, every little change in the room is going to affect the incubator as well... Manual adjustments are just too hard to maintain.. I used a digital thermostat off of ebay, just bought a second one to build another bator..

It has worked very well at maintaining my temperature regardless of room changes... here's the link

Best of luck!!

i was looking at these, but i wasn't sure about it... i should've gotten two of these instead of what i got... one for the bator and another for the brooder... amirite..?

I have a home made incubator made out of styrofoam sheets cut and glued together and a home made hatcher made the same way. I use the water heater thermostat on both, keeps perfect temp. My hatches have been 50% or better and all shipped eggs.

I have 2 of these and so far have nothing but good things to say. I hatched 10 out 11 eggs my first time. I had the bator in the garage and the temp was as low as 10 and high as 60. I have some shipped eggs in now that should start hatching tonight. I dont expect too much out of these though. I cant see inside of them but culled one due to seepage.

as a matter of fact, i was going to make a thread about these things... you guys are convincing me to try them out... maybe i'll order a couple and use them for the reptile rack too...
