to wash eggs or not before incabating

My eggs are getting so dirty pens are muddy. I have been wiping them clean. My thoughts are it is better than hatching muddy eggs. What do you think????

I do not wash my eggs to be hatched. just wipe them with dry rag as water does something to cause them not hatch. if the mud is from your lot as mine is muddy I put leaves in it. it seems to cut down the mud on eggs.

I just usually wipe mine off with a dry or slightly damp rag. I don't rub very hard though. I've had quite a few hatch from horribly stained eggs.
