Helicopter Mom
Songster
Introduced our almost 8 week old chicks to the rest of the flock which consists of 1 rooster and 12 hens. The adults didn't care or bother the 8 new chicks when they were put together. However, the chicks stayed huddled together and completely separate from the adult birds. At bedtime, had to round up all the chicks and put them inside the coop with the others. We decided to close the coop door for the night to keep everyone contained. When I peeked in the coop, again all the chicks were completely separate from the adults and huddled together in a tight ball.
Should I be concerned and do something or just be patient and keep calm?
