I have two Sebright hens and a roo. I have been so scared that these birds would be hard to raise...that they would not lay...that they would not sit...they could not hatch or raise their own.

To YOU that love the Sebright! I have two Broody hens. My Broody hen 1 is hatching now...she has three chicks that I know of and she is a wonderful mother.

Sebright hen 2 is sitting well and I will know next weekend how she does.

I hope that this myth goes away. These are lovely birds that can mate, sit, raise and do well. I also know someone else that had a Sebright sit.

I'm so proud of them!

Also, I hatched 11 Sebright eggs. 10 are doing beautifully! (Unfortunatly lost one in the drinker) They are tiny but the are just as strong as other chicks. If you love these birds...hatch them...breed them...they will do well!

Happy Chickens! Happy Eggs! Happy Chicks!

So glad to see something positive about these birds. They are so easy to raise, I don't know why they get such a bad rap. They are also awesome layers. And, yes, they do go broody-often. Four of my five hens were broody last month, and hatched out eggs for me. Sebright chicks are also very easy to hatch and raise. I've hatched many many chicks this year.

Good luck with your new babies!

Congratulations! I would love to have some sebrights. If you can show us pictures, that would be great.

She is the funniest little pullet I have. She hasn't started laying yet but I think she is a great little bird and pretty too.
