Toads and chickens

I've recently had 3 birds die on me. Wasn't sure why. But today I saw my other birds fighting over a toad they killed. I just noticed the toads recently coming out of the woodwork. Could they have been poisoned? I'm trying to narrow down what may have happened.

My chickens eat them, too. I hope they aren't your problem. A careful appraisal of the age and condition of the chickens, any changes in behavior, changes to the environment, recent spraying or seeding in the are might give you some clues.

Thanks Chris. I had a few die, saw some tearing at a toad. So I'm trying to narrow down my choices. To make matters worse, we had 2 days of rain nonstop, now some of my birds have respiratory problems.
