Hi all,

Today is a very sad day. I got up this morning and went to go let my 4 ladies out. Mable my EE came out first (which isn't normal she is usually last) next came my GC Porkus, then my RIR Red, but my RIR Big Momma didn't come out. I ran around the coop thinking she must already be in the nest box laying an egg but she wasn't there. Instead she was laying on the floor of the coop just a little past the roost. She died sometime last night and I don't know why. She was so healthy and happy and my favorite. She looked very peacful but I can't imagine what happend. She was only 1 1/2 years old and my best egg layer.

Oh why does it have to be the "favorite"? I miss her so much already. It has been a very hard day between tears and heartache. I was so attached to her, she was so sweet and didn't mind being picked up and loved. I feel so bad for her sister Red they were a pair and inseperable. Now I only have three (except for the new BR babies I have) adult chickens. The two gold ones always hung out together and the two reds the same.

Well here are some pics of my favorite lady "BIG MOMMA" (Originally Henryetta but then she got the nickname!) I miss her so much. We are going to go bury her shortly. R.I.P. my sweet lady.....

I am so sorry for your loss I also lost my fav hen two days ago it's still so sad she is no longer there to greet me in the mornings. its very sad indeed to lose such a beloved pet.
