So today is day 18. My brother and I were taking the eggs out of the turner...... he cracked a Black Copper Maran egg!
After a choice word or two I'll be doggone if he didn't crack a Bantam egg!!!
After way more choice words than we usually speak we cracked them open all the way and there were what would have been 2 more chicks to our expanding brood!!! Needless to say, I felt sick! 1. because of the HORRENDOUS smell and 2. because I felt like I just killed a Panda bear or something! I hope the day never comes when I cook a batch or have to actually cull a baby!!! Can't wait to see what else hatches.
On a happier note my Demon Felix (as I will now call him) "crowned" another one! She is a beautiful lace-winged Sexlink. This will most likely be our last batch this year unless we decide to keep a couple Maran eggs out to do in a month or so. just long enough to let the incubator air out a bit and rest.
