Today is day 21?????

Update, I have a little more crack, I whistled but didn't heard anything. It was cracked when I came home at 11am and it's a little bigger, not much. So I'm not going to look at it for another 15 or 20 minutes.

I am on day 20, day 21 actually starts in an hour. I have checked the eggs a dozen times today and nothing. I just checked them again and we have a pip!!!

I have also been listening for peeping and watching for rocking, but nothing so far. My guess is I won't get much sleep tonight!! Even though I know it is more likely they won't hatch until tomorrow, it is hard not to be excited!!

I just checked again and a little piece about the size of my small fingernail is all most ready to fall off. the temp is 98 and humidity is 65. I can't get it any higher. Is that ok?

I love this!!!! I have 17 silkie eggs and 6 cochin eggs in the mail that should be here tomorrow or friday. This will be my first hatch and I can hardly stand it!!!! How fun!!

You know you have to share pictures right??

WOOOO HOOOO, we have a chick!!!

I got up and checked them at 2:30 am and we had a second pip, at 4:45 we had a third pip, at 6:45 we had the first pipped egg zipped about 3/4 of the way around and we noticed a 4th pip. By 7 am we had a beautiful chick!! We had 8 good eggs in there still, so far, 1 chick and 3 more pipped. This is addicting!!

Oh, the fun we have..

As for being a nutcase during the hatching process... I'm right there with you. This is day 21 on a batch of mostly silkies and, since I have no silkies, I can't wait to see the little fuzz-buckets! It is probably good that I have appointments most of the day and will be gone. Otherwise, I wouldn't get anything accomplished anyway - other than giving myself a stiff neck leaning over, peering through the windows like some kind of psycho. Technically, they should start hatching tonight though, so maybe they'll wait for me. Then I won't get a wink of sleep all night and I'll be a real kook by morning. Woo hoo! Isn't this fun?!
