Already one has hatched!! Have over 40 eggs so I can't wait to see how many chicks hatch. This is my second quail hatch. The first one out is so little and CUTE! I have a mixed batch of eggs so it will be awesome to see what kinds hatch out. This first one looks like a jumbo. I have game bird crumbles - could I give them that? It had a little analysis sheet on it which said feed at 5 weeks but I started my chicks from the other batch with it at about 2 weeks. Just wondering if I can feed the new chicks this now. Would it be safer to scramble some eggs to feed to them and wait on the game crumbles?
Game crumbles are fine if that's what you have on hand
You more than likely dont even need to grind them up. But since you mention boiling eggs, since this isnt game bird starter crumbles, I'd also boil some eggs and smoosh up the yolk into their feed to a powdery consistancy (not the crumbles just the yolk) so they can pick at it to hteir hearts desire. Ofcourse, make sure it doesnt spoil
The issue is protien at this young of an age so offering them some boiled egg yolk with those crumbles will really give them a good start. that or ground up cat food if you have that on hand.
