Yahoo! All babies are hatched. Four hatched yesterday: three nice little blacks and one really typey blue. Then this morning I went out and pulled an egg from under the hen. It had pipped and zipped. I carried it inside and placed it in my 5 year old son's hands, and within three pushes it was out of the shell and floundering in his hand. The look on his face was beyond words. And...it is a partridge.
The sad part - the last two had died in the shell. This seems to be a pattern for us. I always put 7 eggs under the hens, and of the seven, two always die in the shell. But...absolutely loving the five little fluffballs.
