i mean the plucking i know how to do.. you just dip the dead bird in hot water count to 3 then tak'em out an have on rubber gloves to pull feathers off and the feathers come off fast an easy..

but the killing don't no.. i mean i'm not a killer i'm a spoiler.

but my uncle has been on my back for months about this day and i guess i better learn

i get off work early today and he's like ( don't even go home.. come straight here from work ) lol

he has 10 meat birds and wants me to kill and pluck 5 of them

Mentally prepare yourself. The first one is hard and the 5th one won't be easier. Steal yourself for the task at hand and do it. Pay your respects for the life being given for the food on the table. You will suddenly gain a whole new outlook and won't waste one bite of food on your plate from now on.

I agree with Miss Prissy - You need to steel yourself for the task at hand.

It's not like it gets better over time, but it does get easier from the standpoint that you get faster at it.

And that helps some.

Yea i know.. i hope this kinda thing i get use to and use to fast so i can get over this guilt

only animals i ever killed were fish we catch

it'll be fine though

Good luck!!! Just let them peck you a few times and that will make it easier..lol The first time is always the hardest. Stay on task and dont hesitate. You will be fine!!! Jenn

What I do when I have to butcher a rabbit (not a chicken I know but still a cute cuddly) I remember what a good life we gave it and I DO take a moment or two to cuddle it and make sure it is calm and happy. (makes me feel better too)Then do it quick. I'll admit that I usually have tears in my eyes as I do the deed.....but you know what? They wouldn't at a butchering plant. Feel good because you care enough to make it hard! You are a good person or it wouldn't bother you in the least! Take comfort in the fact that you care....and they know it.
