today is the day i fill our run with sand (pics)

Oh, you won't know back pain until you're finished. But you'll love the sand. Chickens feet are cleaner as are eggs and your run is ever so much easier to clean. I love mine and I still don't have it as deep as I want it.

run is now filed with sand (about 2 inches)

planted some grapes so they will one day shade on side of the run.

and filled the garden with dirt and planted some veggies.

Very nice! I just had sand dropped off, still have to put it in the runs. I was kind of worried with not knowing what is in the sand. I know Cocci is in dirt/sand so??? I guess it's a just a risk. Does anyone know about that?

well we bought this sand at lowes in a giant bag. it was $34 and they needed a forklift to put it in my trailer. they told me it was clean play sand. that is about all i know about it.

Very nice....well done. That is exactly what I would like to do! (raised bed) what are the dimensions and did you just fill it with dirt or did you add other soil ammendments as well? (i.e. peat, chicken poop, steer manure, etc.)
