Today's temperature = # of eggs.

Low last night was 41 and the high today was 48 with rain. We got nine eggs from fourteen hens. Colder weather coming in over the next few days but the sun is coming out now as I look out the window.

80* and zero eggs

High today a very cold & windy 34, 3 eggs out of 3 girls!! Proud momma!

See? Uncomfortable hens lay fewer eggs than comfortable hens

From my 12 girls:
Friday - 3/15 - Low: 15, High: 36 - 10 eggs
Sat - Low: 18, High: 26 - 11 eggs

Sun - Low: 14, High: 27 - 7 eggs
Mon - Low: 9, High: 34 - 9 eggs

It has been at least partly sunny the last couple of days, almost no snow on the ground. The girls had a blast scratching through the manure pile (year old manure, OK??

And people who think chickens need heat if it gets down near freezing might want to note those temps. They REALLY can handle sub freezing temps, not an issue at all.

Supposed to be a decent sized snow storm coming tomorrow. I'm guessing the girls will hang in the barn.

The low last night was 39 and the high today was 48. We got seven eggs from fourteen hens. Our weekly egg average is steadily climbing. I'm glad. We were running out of eggs at home and to sell.

Hey everyone, I got 8 from 9 yesterday, was a beautiful 80 degrees. Mine are pretty steady. Got a little bantam that has 10 eggs setting on them! Pretty exciting, never had chickens period until couple months ago. So I'm getting eggs, plus have a broody hen. And Bruce I think you are right about the weather! And mine will sometimes all lay one day then only half the next. My three bantams was laying everyday until Agnus went broody, now she's stolen their eggs plus hers to set on so no ones laying. Is that normal?
