Just got back home from visiting the cousins. The 4 kids together are 7, 4 (ds), 4, and 2 (dd). Oh my goodness, the adorable! The 7 year old is roughly a 70 year old at heart (if you get over the poop jokes) - super kind and insightful, not to mention ridiculously smart. The 2 four year old boys were over loaded with manic energy, and they adored each other. My son had declared 4 year old nephew his best friend between visits, which is both fantastic and heart breaking, since we only see his cousins one week a year old average - though it's been 2 weeks a year the past 2 years. (Great Grandma 1 has gone from "too forgetful to drive" to "can't remember her daughter or words like yellow" since DD was born. She took care of me after school every day from age 5-9. This visit was because Great Grandpa was in and out of the ER every 2 weeks.) The 2 year old was a dedicated charmer the whole trip, as the only girl of the bunch. And the cousins were more interested in her than before because they are expecting a little sister. The 7 and 2 year old probably have as much in common as the 4 year olds - they are scary smart and very intuitive (DD, like her dad, has a 6th sense of when people need something. I was sick last week and she kept getting me cups of water. My older nephew seeks out whoever is left out and kind of... seeks what they need, whether it is a warm hug, conversation, or really dumb joke.) It was wonderful watching them play together, especially the 4 year old "best friends."

At least the addition of Little Lady Cousin secures a visit for next year!

(There is no way they can visit, by the way. It's a 15 hour drive, and 4 year old nephew is highly allergic to cats among every other allergy, and we have 2 indoor kitties. Also, my grandparents, parents, and brother live in the same town, my favorite great-aunt comes to visit when we do, plus my old work friends. There is NO ONE for my brother to visit near us.)

He goes down but not does he resist and if he doesn't get his nap in he is the biggest crybaby in the world. I think it might all be in the wording of we say nap he thinks it's evil but if we say just lay down and have a rest then he's Mom and will pass out no problem
