Toddlers are Quackers

Here is one of the 3 month old silkie x OEGB cockerel's feet. I find it strange that there are random skin patches that are blue, and the rest of the skin is light colored..... What are the genetics behind this??

They are sexlinks, with female having dark skin and males having light skin.
