I do lurk on threads you frequent quite a bit, but am too shy to post. One can only be a member for so long before hearing of the infamous broody GPS!

Do you need some more broodies?

Or, correction, feeling the effects of the wayward GPS. Right now I have 2/3 game hens broody as anything, and another trying to go broody. But I'm not letting her!!

Jace (#3 game hen) went broody before she was 1 year old. Then, when her chicks hit 1 mo, she dumped them and went broody again. Now she's trying to build up a clutch, but I'm taking it away as fast as she can lay it.

Game hens - better broody mamas even than silkies or cochins. They will absolutely die for their chicks. I once saw one fly after a Cooper's hawk that had snatched up one of her chicks.

Totally. A neighbor's beagle (harmless) walked into the coop where Jace and her chicks were. Five seconds later, the beagle came running out of the coop with Jace running after her as fast as she could!! She was hoppin mad!

Wow, I'm honored that you are honored. I'm just keeping an eye on some of my friends who hang out here. They sometimes need a good role model.
