Why do you heat wine in the crock pot? I've only done that in the winter to make mulled wine.

It is for that. It is supposed to be some special kind that doesn't need the extra spices.
Speaking of which, the woman said to remove the cork, and heat the wine in the bottle if you want several flavors.
