No, thank you. I have enough tapes and DVD's to choke a horse.

I have finally pared down my tape collection, and now I only have enough to choke a good-sized goat.

Okay, so Brainy Baby is on a Christian PBS type channel. I have a problem with words like "choo choo train". If a child can say that, they can say train. "Choo choo" is the noise they make before they can say train. "Doggie" OMG! I hate that word! I was about to be sick recently listening to a really good looking guy standing in my kitchen saying it.Again, they use it in the show. I also don't understand how the show is for as young as nine months.
Here is where I am going to sound like a big(ger) jerk. Kids should not be watching television before 2 years. Not even your shows. There are all kinds of studies, but the bottom line is that I think it is wrong, and harmful.
Duckling was sick, and I needed her to stop crying. I had been recording the shows for future use. I turned the first one on, and she was silent. At first, she stayed in my arms. Then she moved to the floor. It was so nice not having an inconsolable snot ball clinging to me! Unfortunately, I created a monster. We watch a LOT of "Brainy Baby" now.
So, the point. Lately, they have been interrupting our colors, numbers and animals to teach about the healing power of laying of hands, snakes, and speaking in tongues. How to be a good wife is common too. Guys, I don't want to confuse Duckling with these things. These things confuse adults! Not to mention, not every Christian has the same beliefs. Some don't believe in dancing of any sort. Another thing that the show includes (I am all for dancing. Promise!). They even show off the dancers' bodies. Men in leotards and women in skimpy costumes. THAT I have an issue with too. On a stage, a man's package is not noticed. On television, Duckling wants to know what it is. Again and again and again...
Another issue I have is the one woman they use. She is about 45 or so, and talks like a valley girl from the 80's. She makes me sick with her whiny voice, flipping her hair, and the attitude! Oh my gosh! A teen would get smacked or their mouth washed out with soap for using that attitude! One clip shows her just speaking. I still can't stand her (LOL) but she was not doing the attitude.
Okay, point made. The show is great when they are teaching colors and numbers. They are too adult and ... IDK. I think they are way off with their approach to teaching babies and toddlers about God.
Last night I had some nightmares. Gross, gory "OMG" nightmares. Waking did not make them stop. It is a terrible feeling to be terrified and alone. Knowing full well that I was just dreaming doesn't help in these situations. It is going to be a long night.
When I was a little thing (I remember the tail end of two) I would be laying there awake, and see a fog. In that fog, I would see dead/scary faces. The skeleton face was the leader. The other faces could be bloody or sneering. He was laughing. I would tell my mother they were back, and she would tell me to close my eyes, and go to sleep. Wanna know what that did? Put them right there in my face! She would never comfort me.
A few years later, my mother had to pay attention to my nightmares. We didn't know about kids and migraines back then. Too bad. I don't know if a migraine triggers the nightmares or the nightmares cause the migraines. It came to pass though, that if I were having a nightmare, I was going to throw up. In the bed if I couldn't wake fast enough. So, if my mother woke to my whimpering (or whatever) she would rush in, and grab the trash can. Sometimes she would bring my sleeping head off the bed to aim it in the can. It was soon a common thing for me to miss morning classes in school.
I do have a headache and upset stomach right now, but I think I am just suffering from being tired and seeing gross things. Those were some disgusting dreams!
Now, the reason for all this stuff. What do you do when your little one has bad dreams? DO you comfort or ignore? Have you had experience with night terrors? If not, I hope you never do. Duckling has had a few. My older nephew (I had him until he was three) had them all the time. Unfortunately, he has in him so much of me. I thought he was just having a nightmare once. Boy, did he fight!!
When we had cable we would watch Sprout. Now it's usually Qubo because that's what comes in on the bunny ears.We like the baby channel and sprout. "Rainbow Horse" and Harry the Bunny are bubba's favorites. Even my 7 yo DD still likes the baby channel.
Sprout has the wonder pets, little bill, and others I like. If duckling likes the wonder pets I have some toys she can have.![]()
Thanks for inviting me over!

I hate to say this, but I forgot to pray about it.Bubba has bad dreams about volcanoes and hot lava. We pray (I know that's not for everyone, just what we do). Very simple. "Dear Jesus, please put the bad dreams away." DD has decided to banish the bad dreams to Canada...? Sorry, Canadians.

Monkey tail costs to much. What about the monkey tail?
We were lucky; never had that that problem. Worst that ever happened to ours was the boy, who was sick at the time & still in a crib, having a 105* ever in the middle of a cold November night. Bundled him up & off to the ER we went. Down to 102* by the time we got there.Last night I had some nightmares. Gross, gory "OMG" nightmares. Waking did not make them stop.
