You asked about my sources for SPR info....much was learned speaking with the breeder I got my original stock from. He has raised them for many years and is a national level show judge. The rest has been snippets here and there in poultry reference books, google searches and articles in some show papers.
I don't show, so never delved much deeper than good personality, decent egging and good brooding as positives, though I do know the brown bleed through on the wings with the boys is undesired, so all boys with that get culled rather than mess up the beautiful feathering we have. Even though we don't show we don't want to decrease the quality of the birds we have.
Even a guy that isn't picky won't touch me.
