Toddlers are Quackers

Quote: I've never encountered it myself, but I understand that in some areas everything is Coke, no matter if it's Orange Aide it's Coke. Otherwise it's usually soda around here, with all of the military & government so close, we get a lot of transients, so it's hard to tell what you're liable to hear.

Soda pop in the Midwest. Pop in mountain west. Coke in the deep south. And soda on either coast.

Yep, here on the west coast, I've always called it soda. My SIL lives in MI and she's always called it pop, but it sounds like "pahp". At least I know what she's talking about. My MIL is a WV native transplanted into MI. She says she's drinking a coke while holding a Pepsi, Its very confusing. She says its all the same thing, but if I gave my own mother a Pepsi when she's ordered a coke, she'd probably throw it at me & I'd never hear the end of it.

years ago we were visiting relatives in WV. It was really hot & we started handing out water bottles to the family. One of the aunts declined the water for my little nephew & gave him a 7Up instead. I have trouble keeping my mouth shut & said he needed water, not soda. She said, "Its ok. Its clear."

Coke was like soda. We said what we wanted.

My great-aunt had the "clear soda is water" mentality. Then again, so do my in-laws.
I remember when I was little, my mother would let us have a teaspoon of her coffee. She drinks it with cream and sweetener. Duckling's Nanna did that, and she got in trouble. It's okay to give her soda though! :gig
The pediatrician said no candy. Her father said, "It's a kid's right to have candy!" This was right after she turned one. :th

None of my kids drink soda, not even the "kid flavored" kind. Not because I wont let them, but because the carbonation burns their mouth. I'm totally ok with that.
