Toddlers are Quackers

My wife makes a peach freezer jam. Probably similar to the refrigerator jam you make.
Sounds good!

I was never exposed to canning. It is like most other things. We just forget to teach our children the way to survive without all the conveniences of today. So, my mother and other elders never taught me how to can.
I remember one of my previous relationships, his mother and sister and sister-in-law went into the basement to can. I wanted to go to, but they said I was too citified. They could not imagine me ever canning. When my husband was on Workmen's Comp., I was given a chance to learn to can. I started with the discovery kit and a seven piece starter kit. All those starter kits are different for some reason.

I canned salsa and pickles.
I finally got a pressure canner two years ago. My first journey into pressure canning was potatoes. When that went over well, I moved on. I can't begin to tell you how glad I am to have my pressure canner! My very first time using it as a pressure cooker was when Fisherlady recently reminded me it could be used for that.

You can't imagine the difference it made in the stock! The dog is asleep on my lap, or I would take a picture of the difference.

I cant believe they said that to you -- People can be such jerks!

When I first started canning a few years ago, my grumpy, old mother made a big deal, griping bitterly about how her mother used to can, but she never taught her how to do it, so she was never able to, blah, blah, blah... I looked at her & just said, "Seriously? Ya know, my mother never taught me how to can either." Hahaha! That stopped her rant pretty quick.

I think I've created a monster with the car seat. It is true that I was messing around, and tilting her backward. But, she was mad because I unbuckled her! She insisted on sitting in her seat to drink her juice. The cupholders are a big success!
I need to move the crotch buckle to the second setting, but the difference in the fit is immense! I might be able to move the shoulder straps up, but it seems to be okay where it is.
I know that there are car seats out there that don't require you to adjust the shoulder straps, but that was not my first concern when finding one for her. It would have been nice though. To be honest, I didn't even notice it on any of the seats I was looking at.

I understand the complaints about the seat. The head rest does seem to be awfully well padded, and the straps do look like they are about to cut into her neck. I have not removed the cover from the headrest, but I seriously doubt it is dry rotted.

Sweet carseat. They make belt covers for the straps so that they don't rub on your neck.

What brand is your pressure canner?

All Anerican. Expensive, but!! Well made (it will last, and can be passed down) and it has a million locks on it.

I must admit, I still did not know where most of my food came from. When I plant vegetables, I never know how they are going to grow. I mean, I did not know that tomatoes grew on a vine until they started growing. More importantly, I did not know that they grew upward and needed to be staked. I could not buy meat either. Being in that section of the grocery store always made me regurgitate.

I'm still learning too & I have a LONG way to go. I was a city girl until about 10yrs ago. The meat section still makes me wanna hurl. I have to hold my breath when I walk by.
