It's a little involved, but hasn't failed me yet. PERFECT yolks every time.

Cover eggs in water by about an inch. Shake in an unhealthy amount of salt and two pinches of baking soda. Bring to a boil. Boil ONE MINUTE ONLY. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 15 minutes. Drain water and dump eggs into a ice bath. Wait a couple minutes, then peel away! I use the jar method for peeling.

Lotta steps, but it never ever goes wrong and the folks don't turn weird and green.

do they cook all the way through? I like them hard not soft boiled

I usually bring to a boil and let sit 15 minutes, then cool and peel. Will also add salt but haven't tried baking soda. The jar method?

seriously? interesting I will try that next so far I have tried steaming and salting and then I forgot I had them on and almost had egg on the ceiling

It causes them to lose some moisture and changes the PH in them enough to make peeling easy. Leave fresh eggs sit out, don't take them out of the fridge and let them sit out.

Yep, fully cooked. I don't like raw yolks.
