My chicken has long toenails and one was broken and hanging on everything. So I looked in my books and decided to cut it. I cut too much and it bled for 20 minutes. My chickens will be fine if I don't LOVE them to death. Really frustrated.

You can buy blood stop powder and it really helps (veterinary use only the bottle states).

Or some have tried cornstarch I have read but haven't tried myself.

If you cut just a little off the ends and come back one week later to cut more, repeating as needed every week or two, then the quick will recede and you will make headway.

Oh I just want to be clear about what I said...veterinary use but I didn't mean veterinarian use.

So just for use on animals...doesn't have to be a vet to use it. Anyone can buy it.
