TOFU as chicken treats?

I love meat, and I LOVE TOFU TOO! Then again I grew up as with that in a lot of dishes. We put tofu in soups most of the time. If you want it as an appetizer you can buy silken tofu. just take it out of the box gentle... no need to rinse or cut cause its super soft and just put soy sauce and some green onion!

Thanks for the input. I'd hoped that was the case. It's supposed to have calcium as well as protein, though, right? Mine aren't on layer feed, but they do eat toasted egg shells.

My daughter pointed out "You're more worried about the CHICKENS eating it than you are ME??!"

I pointed out: a) The chickens are actually EATING it, b) The chickens have less body mass for coping if it is bad for them, and c) Someday we will eat eggs from these tofu-eating critters.

You must've gotten different tofu on the salad bar, cause ours is squishy and even after frying it up or baking it up it was still pretty squishy. My veg-head pointed out that she could actually swallow each bite whole... She's very committed to not eating anything with a face but not very impressed with tofu.

Guess I have to go find tofu recipes out there, and learn more about it in general.
do you press the tofu. If you don't that could be why it's so squishy (lots of moisture in tofu) :} (-- it's a bird

I have a 2 wk old silver sebright pair and the rooster seems ever so slightly frail to me, always has, he seems to do fine but I want to help him get stronger. He has weak legs, not deformed but he just can't climb and balance as easily as his sister and I've been giving probiotics, acv, oatmeal, egg, mealworms and grit of course trying to boost him (and treat the pasty butt he had when I got him). I'm thinking tofu might be good? Minimally. I have some store bought kefir but it's strawberry flavored and I'm all paranoid. Just want him to be strong, he's incredibly sweet. I notice rooster chicks often seem more frail to me than their sisters...maybe a combination. Of being smaller and having weird rooster mannerisms/ tendencies. Roosters always seem needier as babies. So what's the word on tofu for chicks?

It comes in several different firmnesses (Yeah, I'm not sure that was a real word). I use extra firm for sauteing and silken for smoothies.
