I have a Tom Carl who I didn’t raise he’s been with us about 6 months. I got him for my hen when my amazingly wonderful Tom Wilson was killed.
He’s been with 4 roosters ( more at one point) for the whole time and was always fine with them. He recently decided that my one rooster Poe -who I think might be top rooster now ( he’s also very annoying lol) is his enemy. So they have been fighting a lot. I don’t know if it’s partially that Poe won’t give up and go hide or what.
Today they were really going at it so I went over to observe. I know it’s best to not break it up but I like to be on stand by. So in addition to jumping at eachother, pecking, all that jazz Carl my turkey kept grabbing on to Poes face or head and full on mating him. I figure it’s dominance but he even did that thrust at the end they do when they are done. It was so odd..
I don’t know they where non stop for about an hour a few breaks thrown in when Poe was hiding under a coop Carl is too big for so finally I got pissed off and threw Carl in our big goose coop because they need to take a break.
Is this going to stop? Is the mating thing just showing dominance or does he have screws loose I mean I’m pretty positive he does he’s always been weird.
Carls really not my favorite so I wouldn’t be opposed to selling him also Poe is another non-favorite we’ve been trying to find a home for him and his brother Edgar but no one wants roosters of course...

Sounds like you got a tom that was imprinted by and raised with chickens. The only way to stop this behavior is by keeping him separated from chickens.

Personally, I would process him and the unwanted roosters. I never pass problem animals or birds on to other people.
Well the woman I got him from ( she said he was about a year) did raise him with a completely mixed flock geese, chickens, roosters, ducks. So you’re saying he can’t tell the difference between species so he’s challenging him as if he were another Tom?

I don’t quite like him because he’s not my Wilson, but he’s be no means a problem. He really has done nothing else aggressive to anyone thats why I don’t know why he hates this one rooster so much.
My husband said my rooster Poe is annoying and bullies literally all of the birds roosters and chickens. Does Carl see that he’s a bully?
I did yell at him a few times and he has been better so I guess we’ll see..
